The Medical Assistant assists in patient care delivery and treatment under clinical supervision, while also providing administrative support and collaborating with clinical staff to meet patient needs. Key duties include preparing patients, obtaining vital signs, assisting with procedures, performing minor clinical tasks, and managing administrative support like scheduling and phone triage.
Applicants must be a graduate of an accredited medical assisting program with at least 720 clock hours of training, including 160 hours of externship, and must hold one of several recognized Medical Assistant certifications. Preferred qualifications include one year of experience in a medical or surgical setting and current Health Care Provider CPR certification.
One (1) year of experience in a medical or surgical practice setting. Current Health Care Provider CPR (or ability to complete prior to orientation completion). Medical office experience and medical terminology training. Working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, basic laboratory values, and medical equipment. Knowledge of HIPAA, patient confidentiality, infection control, aseptic technique, and regulatory standards. Strong critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt to changing workloads and prioritize effectively.
