The Ultrasound Technologist performs prescribed diagnostic Ultrasound examinations according to protocols, ensuring quality patient care, safety, and compliance with all regulations. This role involves collaborating with various staff and customers to efficiently complete examinations and responding appropriately to emergent patient situations.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited diagnostic Ultrasound program with a minimum of two years of experience, holding ARDMS registration and an OBMI State of Oregon license, along with current BLS certification. Required abilities include advanced computer skills for high-technology equipment, excellent communication, and a high level of knowledge in anatomy and pathology.
Under the direction of the Radiology Manager and immediate supervision of the Lead Imaging Technologist, the Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing prescribed Ultrasound scans and/or procedures for diagnostic purposes. Assures quality patient care while maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction, quality, safety, and compliance with all state, federal, and local regulatory requirements. The Ultrasound Technologist is technically and clinically competent in Ultrasonography for all ages served and ensures that age and culturally appropriate care is given. Works effectively as a team with the Radiology Manager, Lead Imaging Technologists, Imaging staff, and personnel from other departments to collaboratively provide the best customer experience possible.
Performs prescribed diagnostic US examinations according to established operating practices and Radiologist protocols without constant supervision.
Collaborates with all customers to complete US examinations in an efficient manner. Able to recognize emergent patient situations and respond appropriately.
Maintains regulatory requirements, including all local, state, and federal regulations and accrediting organization standards related to the Imaging department and, as appropriate, to each facility.
Participates in hospital and department quality assurance programs to ensure safety, compliance, and satisfaction.
Monitors US supplies and equipment to utilize resources efficiently.
Effectively communicates with Imaging staff, patients, and all customers to promote quality patient care and safety.
