The Medical Interpreter II mediates communication between clinicians and patient families who prefer a Language Other than English during clinical and non-clinical interactions throughout the treatment or research cycle. This role involves handling visits of increased complexity, such as specialty or multidisciplinary visits, and potentially working with research study encounters.
Candidates must have at least two years of healthcare interpreting experience and must obtain a Certified Healthcare Interpreter (CHI), Certified Medical Interpreter (CMI), or NAATI certification within 12 months of hire. A High School Diploma/GED is required, and a Bachelor's Degree is preferred, along with strong linguistic, cultural, and ethical competencies.

A Brief Overview The Medical Interpreter II supports provision of family-centered care by mediating communication between clinicians or staff and patient families who prefer a Language Other than English (LOE). The Medical Interpreter II interprets during clinical and non-clinical interactions to support to families and staff in accurate and complete exchange of information throughout the entire treatment or research cycle.
Education High School Diploma / GED Required Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Experience At least two (2) years interpreting experience in healthcare. Required At least two (2) years of international life experience, especially serving international clientele in a work environment. Preferred
