The Medical Records Coordinator manages and coordinates medical records functions for physician services, ensuring accurate documentation and regulatory compliance. They serve as the primary liaison between providers, facility staff, and administration to support efficient operations and patient care.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, with an associate or bachelor's degree preferred. At least 2 years of experience in medical records or healthcare administration is required, along with proficiency in EMR/EHR systems.
Physician Visit Coordination Maintain and update Medical Director and Attending Physician patient lists Track required visit frequencies per regulatory and facility guidelines Schedule and confirm physician rounds in coordination with facility staff Prepare daily/weekly rounding sheets and visit logs Ensure completion and timely submission of all required physician documentation following visits Medical Records Management Maintain accurate, complete, and timely medical records for all assigned patients Conduct routine chart audits to ensure physician documentation compliance (timeliness, signatures, required elements) Upload, file, and organize physician notes, orders, and related documentation Ensure records meet federal, state, and facility regulatory standards
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred 2+ years of experience in medical records, healthcare administration, or a related role Experience in skilled nursing or long-term care settings strongly preferred Strong knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation standards Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and interpersonal skills
