The Phlebotomist performs assigned tasks to assist in the daily workload, which includes performing basic dermal and venipuncture collection while maintaining compliance with established processes for specimen handling and documentation. Responsibilities also involve professional communication, accommodating patient and laboratory needs, and using critical thinking to identify and follow up on laboratory service issues.
Candidates should ideally possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and preferred experience includes six months of qualifying phlebotomy experience or completion of an approved training course, along with routine venipuncture and dermal puncture experience. The role requires strong attention to detail and a willingness to adjust schedules, including picking up open shifts, to meet patient needs.
Afternoon/Evening shift 1230pm-900pm. Will rotate every third weekend and holidays. 20 or 40 hours weekly -- will hire 2-20 hr. shifts, or 1-40 hr. shift. Will discuss in interview.
Job Requirements Education High School diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. (High School diploma or equivalent required for CAP surveyors only). Participates in mandatory in-services and continuing education programs as mandated by policies and procedures, accrediting agencies and as directed by Leadership. Experience 6 months of phlebotomy experience that qualifies for American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification, or approved equivalent certification, preferred. OR Completion of a structured, American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) approved phlebotomy training course, or approved equivalent course, or equivalent preferred such as Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), or MA AND experience in the following areas. Routine venipuncture experience preferred. AND Routine dermal puncture experience preferred. License/Certifications Skills/Knowledge/Abilities Requires strong attention to detail.
