• JOB SUMMARY Works under the supervision ofthe Pharmacy Coordinator or Pharmacist.
• The shift for this role is full-time rotating shift (days and evenings) with weekend work required.
• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.

• ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Job Duties Performs job responsibilities in accordance with organizational and departmental policies, procedures, performance improvement objectives and environmental and infection control standards.
• Coordinates daily workflow in assigned area and provides leadership to other technicians.
• Performs extemporaneous compounding.
• Repackages bulk medications into unit dose per departmental policy and procedure.
• Enters charges and credits and restocks returns.
• Makes good decisions, accepts responsibilities, and maintains competency in multiple areas.
• Accepts duty as knowledge and training resource for specific areas of responsibility and works to improve these areas.
• Accurately fills all orders, floor stock, and fill lists.
• Performs IV calculations and prepares al IV admixture using proper aseptic technique.
• Handles all intravenous chemotherapy.
• Delivers medication on time.
• Performs extemporaneous compounding.
• Repackages bulk medications (oral, injectable, etc) into unit dose per departmental policy and procedure.
• Enters charges/credits and restocks returns accurately and consistently.
• Provides prompt and courteous service.
• Receives incoming calls and prioritizes bases on urgency or nature of requests.
• Audits and signs out all controlled substances in accordance with state and federal guidelines and organizational policies.
• Identifies and corrects discrepancies and reports unusual usage pattern and trends.
• Completes medication area inspections.
• Removes and documents expired medications.
• Assists with ordering, managing and monitoring drug inventory in a fiscally responsible manner and is cognizant of appropriate PAR levels in all medication storage areas.
• Enhances personal growth and development.
• Participates in educational programs, in-services and meetings.
• Is a knowledge and training resource for specific areas of responsibility and routinely works to improve these areas.
• Participates in new employee orientation and training.
• Treats co-workers and organizational and departmental property and resources with respect.
• Maintains clean, orderly and stocked work environment.
• Works and problem solves with minimal supervision.
• Duties performed may include one or more of the following core functions: a) Directly interacting with or caring for patients; b) Directly interacting with or caring for human-subjects research participants; c) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting patient records (including patient financial records); or d) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting human-subjects research records.
• If IV certified and scheduled to compound sterile admixtures, performs IV calculations and prepares al IV admixture using proper aseptic technique.
• Handles all intravenous chemotherapy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required Education High School Diploma or equivalent Experience 1 year Of experience in pharmacy or equivalent technician Licenses and Certifications (TSBP) REG PHARMACY TECNICIAN As a Registered Technician or Pharmacist Intern Upon Hire and BASIC LIFE SUPPORT Certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Upon Hire Preferred Licenses and Certifications (PTCB) CERT COMPND STERILE PREP TECHN Pharmacy Technician Certification Board

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Work requires ability perform math reasoning. Work requires attention to detail, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and practices. Work requires English skills (speaking, reading, writing). Good general health and stress coping ability. Moderate physical effort: prolonged standing/walking, occasional lifting/carrying (up to 25 lbs), reaching, bending, crouching, etc. OSHA Category III. Work requires good oral and written communication skills. Work requires knowledge of metric and apothecary systems and ability to utilize basic pharmacy equipment. Work requires telephone and personal contact with various levels of internal and external personnel and organizations.
