The Imaging Technologist prepares for and operates radiation-producing equipment under general supervision to produce diagnostic images for pathological conditions and traumatic disorders. Responsibilities include verifying patient identification, managing PACS archiving and RIS completion, and maintaining facility order while staying current with imaging protocols.
Candidates must have completed an accredited Radiology Technology program and be registered or eligible for ARRT registration, obtaining it within one year of employment. Required skills include current CPR certification, a valid NJ DEP license, knowledge of anatomy, and strong interpersonal and critical thinking abilities.
Reporting to and functioning under general supervision of the Supervisor, the Imaging Technologist prepares for a variety of radiologic procedures to produce images of the body for the diagnosis of pathological conditions and traumatic disorders. Operates radiation producing equipment following specific physician orders. Produces detailed images of patients for diagnostic information. Verifies patient identification process prior to imaging, selects patient from worklist, ensures exam is archived on the PACS and completed properly in the RIS. Maintains facilities are in proper order. Must keep abreast of all imaging protocols and new imaging equipment. Education Completion from an accredited Radiology Technology program and registered by the ARRT, or registry eligible. Must obtain registry within one (1) year of employment. Experience Practical experience as a Radiographer preferred. New graduates with certification considered. Skills Registered in Radiologic Technology by the ARRT, a current and valid license from the State of NJ DEP. Current CPR certification thru the American Heart Association. Physical dexterity to operate a variety of complex stationary and mobile radiation producing equipment and mechanical accessories. Ability to work in sensitive areas including the OR and critical care units. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and vascular systems. Excellent interpersonal (oral, written, presentation) skills. Ability to perform tasks accurately and attention to details, changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to function independently and compentenly in stressful situations and changing work environment related to changing patient needs. Ability to work cooperatively within the health-system, and with patients, family members, co-workers, and multidisciplinary team members (i.e. , physicians, Patient Care Services staff members, etc.). Ability to utilize effective time management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to emergency situations. Ability to use analytical and critical thinking skills to effectively problem-solve.
