The Clinical Dietitian assesses patient nutritional status and develops individualized medical nutrition therapy care plans. They work as part of an interdisciplinary team to implement interventions and monitor ongoing nutritional progress.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Food Science, or Nutrition and be a Registered Dietitian or eligible for registration. Basic proficiency in Microsoft applications and knowledge of medical terminology and billing are required.
A Clinical Dietitian is an expert in human nutrition and medical nutrition therapy. The Clinical Dietitian assesses nutritional status of patients based on their individualized needs and goals and develops and implements corresponding nutrition care plans. The role of the Clinical Dietitian is to evaluate current nutrition status, formulate interventions, reassess for changes and record ongoing nutritional progress. The Clinical Dietitian is an integral member of the interdisciplinary team, and helping patients and their support system to ensure patient-centered care is achieved.
