The Clinical Research Specialist will coordinate and implement the Healthy Brain Aging Program, including participant enrollment and group session logistics. A bachelor's degree in a health-related field is required, with a preference for candidates with experience in clinical research or program coordination. Proficiency in MS Office, medical terminology, and familiarity with IRB processes are essential for this role.
The Clinical Research Specialist will play a key role in the development, coordination, and growth of the Healthy Brain Aging Program-a structured program which provides psychoeducation and practice of lifestyle interventions (cognitive strategies, physical activity, healthy diet, social connection) to support brain health and reduce dementia risk as people age. This position will focus primarily on coordinating and implementing brain health group programming, supporting related research activities, and assisting with future program expansion and scalability efforts. The role is ideal for a highly organized, patient-focused individual with an interest in brain health, research, and program development. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Participant Enrollment: The Clinical Research Specialist supports participant enrollment for the Healthy Brain Aging Program by contacting individuals referred by providers, serving as a primary point of contact, and providing information about the program. This role assists with scheduling, enrollment logistics, and ongoing communication with participants to facilitate engagement and participation. The position collaborates with providers in Cognitive & Behavioral Neurology and Memory Care to support initial referral workflows and assists with tracking referrals and enrollment activity as the program grows. Group Coordination: The Clinical Research Specialist coordinates Healthy Brain Aging group programming, including assisting with the organization, development, and implementation of group curricula. The role supports preparation and logistics for group sessions, including materials, space, and scheduling coordination. Over time, the individual will participate in training to progressively assume responsibility for delivering portions of the program content as appropriate. The position assists with planning for program growth, including expansion of group offerings, increased referral volume, and future scalability efforts. Research and Regulatory Support: The Clinical Research Specialist assists with preparation and submission of IRB applications related to the Healthy Brain Aging Program and provides limited ongoing IRB support as needed. The position supports basic research-related activities, which may include administering brief screening or assessment tools associated with the program. The role is responsible for maintaining accurate and compliant research documentation in accordance with institutional and regulatory requirements. Collaboration and Systems Coordination: The Clinical Research Specialist supports future initiatives to integrate a brain health score or assessment into the electronic medical record or online platforms. This role serves as a liaison, as needed, between program leadership and Information Services (ISD) to support coordination and implementation efforts. The position participates in meetings and collaborative planning related to program development, workflow optimization, and long-term scalability. Other duties as assigned MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree required B.A.in a health-related field preferred (e.g., health sciences, psychology, neuroscience, public health) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in clinical research, program coordination, or group-based health programming preferred. Experience with IRB processes and human subjects research. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Interest in brain health, aging, cognition, or dementia related care preferred. Understands and follows simple research protocols and procedures Fully adheres to applicable safety and/or infection control standards Understands and follows data integrity standards and processes Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills Highly collaborative, works well in teams Proficient in the EMR and medical terminology. Demonstrates customer relations skills. Proficient in MS Office (e.g. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), email, internet.
