The Urology Technician provides specialized urinary care, including catheterizations, bladder scanning, and tube irrigations for inpatient and ambulatory settings. They are also responsible for educating patients on self-catheterization and managing mobile supply carts across campus locations.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and previous healthcare experience or education. A Basic Life Support certification is required or will be provided during orientation.
The urology technician is an individual who, through didactic and supervised practice, has acquired the knowledge and developed the skills necessary for providing urinary catheterizations, urinary drainage tube irrigations, ultrasonic bladder scanning, and reinforcement of home-going education related to self-catheterization or urinary drainage tube irrigations. The urology technician is responsible for responding to calls in the inpatient and ambulatory setting at both the St. Marys campus and downtown/Methodist campus. Individuals push a mobile supply cart from call to call.
