The Radiation Therapy Technologist performs patient simulations, constructs immobilization devices, and delivers precise therapeutic doses of radiation. They are also responsible for maintaining accurate treatment records and ensuring quality control procedures on clinical equipment.
Candidates must be graduates of a 2-year Radiation Therapist program and hold or be eligible for NYS licensure. ARRT certification is preferred, and the role requires the ability to perform medium physical work.
SUMMARY As a Radiation Therapy Technologist, your superior customer service skills and empathy for patients, along with your strong attention to detail, allow you to deliver precise doses of radiation while ensuring patients the highest level of comfort possible. STATUS: Full time LOCATION: Lipson Cancer Institute DEPARTMENT: Radiation Technology SCHEDULE: M-F; 7-3:30, 7:30-4 & 8-4:30p On-call: Weekends; approximately once every 7 weeks ATTRIBUTES Strong attention to detail Compassionate, kind and patient focused Excellent organization, interpersonal and problem-solving skills RESPONSIBILITIES Patient Care. Perform simulations for treatment under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist; construct immobilization devices and custom shielding; schedule patient appointments; deliver prescribed therapeutic doses of radiation; take port films and labels to be checked appropriately; record treatment records, including dose addition, documentation of port films, adjustments in prescriptions, diagrams, blocking and landmark Quality Control & Documentation. Ensure quality control procedures on equipment; keep daily Log Sheets, including documentation of inpatients, finishes, new courses, new patients, electron patients and non-malignant cases; keep necessary records for department statistics.
Graduate of 2 yr. Radiation Therapist Program Required Licensure/Certification Skills: NYS Licensure as Radiation Therapist required OR must hold NYS permit and obtain licensure within six months of hire. ARRT certification preferred EDUCATION: LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: RSA - Registered Specialist Assistant - New York State Education Department (NYSED) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. PAY RANGE: $36.25 - $50.00 CITY: Rochester POSTAL CODE: 14621 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
