The physician will provide 24/7 clinical coverage in the PICU and CVICU, evaluating and treating patients with complex cardiac conditions. They will also collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality care and participate in program development and academic research.
Candidates must hold an MD or DO degree and be board certified or eligible in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine with additional fellowship training in cardiac critical care or cardiology. A valid medical license from the Indiana Medical Licensing Board is required prior to the start date.

How you’ll make an impact in this role This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated physician to join a busy, well-respected practice, supported by a strong referral base and the full resources of a robust health system network. Join an established team of 6 physicians and 5 APPs Call structure: About 50-55 nights/year Practice setting: Inpatient (8-bed CVICU and 14-bed PICU) Access to Athena/Sunrise EMR, an integrated cardiology network, and 24/7 dedicated subspecialty support Employed position within a nonprofit health system Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Eligible for state medical licensure and DEA registration Deliver expert diagnostic and therapeutic critical care to pediatric patients within the PICU and CVICU, closely coordinating with cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and case management to ensure seamless inpatient care and discharge planning. Drive program development, clinical excellence, and quality improvement initiatives in collaboration with the expanding pediatric cardiac service line partnership with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Fellowship training in Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care, Pediatric Cardiology, or equivalent experience is required About the Facility 197-bed pediatric facility (including a combined 22-bed PICU/CVICU, 40 private inpatient beds, 8 short-stay beds, 17 Pediatric ED beds, and a 109-bed Level IV NICU) Trauma designation (Pediatric Trauma services available onsite) Serving a population of approximately 2 million in the greater Indianapolis metropolitan area Integrated referral network encompassing more than 100 highly experienced pediatric specialists across 40 different programs Part of Ascension, a national nonprofit Catholic health system Why Physicians Choose Ascension Physician-led, collaborative culture Long-term practice stability National network with local autonomy Mission-centered care rooted in service
Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Indiana Medical Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
