The Orthoptist will perform orthoptic exams, diagnose eye movement disorders, and provide non-surgical treatment plans for patients of all ages. Additionally, they will educate patients and families while providing training to residents and medical staff.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree or have completed a 2-year Orthoptic program. A minimum of 2 years of experience in ophthalmic technology or an internship in orthoptics is required.
JOB SUMMARY Works under minimal supervision to provide orthoptic consultations on patients. UT Southwestern is currently seeking an Orthoptist to join our Ophthalmology team. This healthcare professional specializes in diagnosing and non-surgically treating eye movement disorders, binocular vision problems, and pediatric eye conditions. They work with patients of all ages, commonly treating conditions like strabismus (crossed eyes), amblyopia (lazy eye), and double vision.
