The EEG Technician is responsible for preparing patients and conducting various EEG recordings to monitor brain activity and identify neurological abnormalities. They must also maintain and calibrate diagnostic equipment while collaborating with physicians to support critical care and patient safety.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and a current BCLS (AHA) certificate. Preferred qualifications include an Associate Degree in Electroneurodiagnostic technology, ABRET certification, and two years of relevant experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): Prepare patients for Electroencephalogram (EEG) procedures by explaining the process, taking medical history, and ensuring comfort Apply electrodes using the 10–20 system and monitor equipment for accurate signal capture Conduct EEG recordings including routine, sleep-deprived, ICU, and intraoperative monitoring Identify and document abnormalities such as seizure activity or unusual brain wave patterns Assist during long-term or emergency monitoring for neurological events or brain death evaluations Maintain and calibrate EEG equipment and troubleshoot any technical issues Collaborate with physicians to support diagnoses of epilepsy, brain injuries, tumors, and other medical conditions Ensure patient safety by monitoring during procedures and responding to seizures or emergencies

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus: Completion of educational program for EEG technicians preferred. 2 yrs experience as an EEG technician preferred. Associate Degree in Electroneurodiagnostic technology from a school accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs preferred.
