The phlebotomist is responsible for performing professional blood draws and laboratory procedures while ensuring accurate specimen collection and handling. They must also maintain precise patient records and adhere to all safety, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, with a phlebotomy certification and at least one year of clinical experience preferred. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required to travel between clinical locations.
Perform blood draws and other laboratory procedures in a professional and courteous manner. Verify patient identities and ensure accurate record-keeping for all procedures. Educate patients on the collection process, including specimen handling and storage. Accurately label and prepare specimens for transport, ensuring their integrity. Communicate effectively with lab staff, management, and healthcare professionals. Adhere to safety protocols and comply with OSHA, HIPAA regulations, and laboratory policies. Participate in ongoing training to maintain and update phlebotomy and lab procedure skills.
