The Certified Respiratory Therapist is responsible for the assessment, treatment, and diagnostic evaluation of patients with pulmonary system deficiencies. They perform critical care procedures including ventilatory support, airway management, and blood gas analysis across various patient age groups.
Candidates must hold an Associate degree from a CoARC approved program and possess a current Texas Respiratory Care License. Certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care is required, along with various life support certifications such as ACLS, PALS, and NRP.
Must have a comprehensive knowledge of routine and critical procedures with critical thinking skills for both adults, pediatric, and neonatal patients. Thorough knowledge of Respiratory physiology and ability to practice good judgment in the implementation of clinical interventions indicated by the patient status. Possesses effective oral and written communication skills. Possesses effective interpersonal relationship skills. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
