Under direction, assess patients for pathology of all the veins and arteries of the body other than the heart, intracranial and certain visceral vessels. These are physiology exams using Doppler, duplex imaging and plethysmography, together with history and physics to assess patients for a variety of vascular pathologies
Essential Job Functions
Performs the following examinations on patients as schedule demands either in the Lab or at their bedside according to approved vascular laboratory procedures under general supervision; Venous Duplex (assessment for deep vein thrombosis, venous insufficiency and vein mapping), Arterial segmental pressures, continuous wave Doppler waveforms arterial duplex scan, PPG measurements, graft surveillance and arterial mapping, Carotid and vertebral artery duplex and Abdominal duplex to assess bypass grafts, stents, AAA, mesenteric, aortoiliac and renal artery stenosis/occlusion
Writes preliminary reports for exam(s) and contacts the referring physician with results; within the guidelines set by the Vascular Laboratory Medical Director
Assesses appropriateness of exam(s) ordered and modifies said exam based on an assessment of the patient's history, physical exam and symptoms; within the guidelines set by the Vascular Laboratory Medical Director
Participates in the on-call rotation for Venous Duplex exams during nights/weekends as directed by the Imaging Center Leader
Provides basic nursing care for each patient while they are in the laboratory
Perform administrative duties as assigned including, but not limited to; billing processes (procedural CPT code designation, and the clarification and follow-up on incorrect billing occurrences), scheduling of patients, maintaining of logs, databases and inventory, and ordering of equipment and supplies
Performs quality assessment and improvement activities and maintenance of lab equipment to ensure quality of patient examinations, patient safety, patient care and to maintain accreditation of the vascular laboratory by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories
Performs all other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree (any major) or foreign degree equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in the U.S. plus 12 months of full-time clinical ultrasound/vascular experience

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis.
