Job description
Join our world-class academic healthcare system as a Cardiac Catheterization Technician I. Our Cardiac Catheterization Technician, will work under the direction of the physician and nursing staff, performs a variety of functions before, during, and after Cardiac Catheterization procedures, including patient education, sterile patient and environment preparation, electrocardiograms, and patient monitoring and recording. Performs as a tech assistant during all types of Cardiac procedures.
Utilizes observation and assessment skills to determine patient baseline status and continually monitor patient status throughout the delivery of care, including the monitoring and recording of hemodynamic patient data. Demonstrates knowledge and competency in the recognition of basic arrhythmia and communicates abnormal findings to the physician.
Surgical Assist:
Prepares the patient for each procedure using aseptic technique and prepares the surgical site by shaving and cleansing with aseptic technique. Demonstrate proper EKG lead, electro cautery dispersive pad, BP cuff, and pulse oximeter placement. Assists physicians in scrubbing for surgical procedures. Passes instruments and materials while maintaining the sterility of the equipment and environment.
Room Preparation & Setup:
Prepares lab with appropriate and sterile linen, instruments, and equipment as per physician preference. Positions procedure room equipment and supplies and covers x-ray equipment with sterile drapes. Initiates cleaning of the procedure room and prepares equipment for return to central sterile reprocessing.
Inventory Management:
Assists in the maintenance and control of lab inventory including the rotation of stock and notification of potential out-dating.
Problem Solving:
Apply quality, lean, and problem-solving expertise to improve operations including understanding flow of current and future states and implement process improvements.
Required Qualifications
High School diploma required.
Minimum 1 year experience working as a cardiovascular tech in a Cardiac Cath Lab or X-ray.
A thorough knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of cardiovascular system required.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
