The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for preparing, labeling, and dispensing medications while supervising pharmacy personnel to ensure efficient workflow. They also provide direct patient care, monitor drug regimens, and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
Candidates must hold a Baccalaureate or PharmD degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy and possess a valid state pharmacist license. Strong communication skills and the ability to perform detailed work in a clinical environment are required.
The Staff Pharmacist works under the supervision of the Pharmacist in Charge to assist with various operations within the pharmacy including, but not limited to: 5. In the absence of the PIC, supervises personnel and participates in all aspects of pharmacy workflow including data entry, prescription fulfillment, final verification, and dispensing. 6. Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups of patients. 7. Prepares, labels, and dispenses medications as ordered by physicians or other qualified prescribers. 8. Maintains appropriate records for all medications and other pharmaceutical supplies ordered by physicians or other qualified prescribers.
The Staff Pharmacist will have strong communication skills and be able to perform detailed work. Work is accomplished in accordance with the policies and regulations of local, state, and federal authorities as well as accepted standards of practice.

Duties: and Responsibilities:
5. Prepares, labels, and dispenses medications for all age groups according to accepted standards of practice. 6. Performs computer order-entry functions in an accurate and timely manner. 7. Assists in maintaining an acceptable inventory of medications and supplies under proper conditions of storage and security.
5. Supervises and verifies appropriate and accurate drug distribution tasks performed by support and technical staff. 6. Effectively uses all necessary forms of informatics. 7. Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
5. Assists in the training and orientation of new employees. 6. Demonstrates the ability to counsel patients, families, and/or caregivers. 7. Attends staff meetings.
5. Monitors activities of the department and takes appropriate action as necessary to ensure efficient and effective operation. 6. Assists with staffing problems as needed and can suggest ways to efficiently distribute workflow. 7. Supervises support personnel in a consistent and fair manner. 8. Demonstrates the ability to prioritize and effectively organize workload and problem solve. 9. Looks for meaningful ways to add value to management team and partner organizations.
5. Completes annual continuing education requirements. 6. Obtains and maintains Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) Certification, as necessary. 7. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner. 8. Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities. 9. Follows accepted standards of practice and adheres to federal, state, and local regulations as well as the policies and procedures of the organization.
5. Graduation from a School of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education; Baccalaureate or PharmD degree required. 6. Current and valid registration and licensure by the State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacist. 7. Abide by and uphold the privacy rule standards of HIPAA.
