The ultrasonographer performs diagnostic ultrasound exams to assist providers in diagnosis and treatment while providing direct patient care. They also assist physicians with invasive procedures and maintain ultrasound equipment to ensure operational excellence.
Candidates must hold a current RDMS-AB, OB/GYN, or ARRT (S) certification and obtain an RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential within 30 days of hire. The role requires the ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 100 pounds and moving medical equipment.
Essential Functions Ensures the appropriate exam is performed based on physician's orders and patient history. Verifies and enters/selects patient demographics. Provides accurate and consistent patient education and explanation of exam. Performs ultrasound examinations, tailoring exams based upon findings and most likely diagnosis. Updates patient logs and submit billing. Ensures operation of equipment and coordinates necessary maintenance. Assists with training of student sonographers, residents, and fellows. Assists physicians with invasive procedures. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Ability to perform the essential functions as outlined above. Ability to provide care to the population served. Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures. Demonstrate human relations and effective communication skills.
