The technician is responsible for the manual cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization of surgical instruments and hospital equipment. They also perform autoclave efficiency testing, maintain compliance records, and assist in training new staff members.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have at least 6 months of experience as a sterile processing technician. A current CBSPD or IAHCSMM certification is strictly required for this role.
Per Diem, Rotate
The Certified Central Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the reprocessing of all sterile and non-sterile materials, instruments, and equipment for surgery and other hospital units. He/she is responsible for manual cleaning and decontamination; operating the mechanical washers and sonic units; testing autoclaves for efficiency and maintaining compliant records; He/she assists in the recall process as needed. As a certified technician, the technician will also assist in the eduation and training of other staff (e.g., new hires) with respect to quality assurance, performance improvement, and departmental compliance.
