The Telemetry Registered Nurse is responsible for monitoring patients' cardiac rhythms and vital signs to ensure early detection of clinical changes. They also provide direct patient care, administer medications, and educate patients and families on treatment plans.
Candidates must hold a current state RN license, BLS certification, and ACLS certification. Previous acute care hospital experience and Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation skills are preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): Assess patients' conditions, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and overall health status, to create individualized care plans Monitor patients' cardiac rhythms and vital signs using telemetry equipment, which allows for remote monitoring of patients' heart rates and rhythms Communicate with the physician about changes in the patient's clinical condition, including cardiac monitoring, results of diagnostic studies, and symptomatology Administer medications as prescribed by physicians, including intravenous medications, and monitor patients for any adverse reactions Provide hands-on care to patients, including wound care, administering treatments, assisting with activities of daily living, and providing emotional support Educate patients and their families about their conditions, medications, and treatments, as well as provide guidance on self-care practices and lifestyle modifications in the Telemetry Unit Respond quickly to changes in patient conditions throughout shift and be able to address any concerns to the physician as soon as possible Responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING 1. Current and valid state RN License.2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.3. Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire. 4. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.5. Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.6. Ventilator Management experience preferred.7. Medical-Surgical Nurse-Board Certified (RN-BC) or similar certification; preferred.8.
