The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct patient care, including assisting with exams, procedures, and screenings under clinical supervision. They also manage patient flow, maintain medical records, and perform essential clinical tasks like medication administration and specimen collection.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and completion of an accredited medical assistant program. A current BLS certification and clinical medical assistant certification are required.
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) provides direct and indirect patient care in ambulatory settings under the supervision of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, RNs, or LPNs. This role supports the delivery of safe, efficient, and age-appropriate care by assisting with exams, procedures, screenings, and documentation, while ensuring compliance with state regulations and practice policies. CMAs also manage patient flow, maintain accurate medical records, perform basic laboratory and clinical tasks, administer medications, and educate patients on home care and assistive devices. As part of a collaborative, team�based model, the CMA contributes to quality improvement initiatives and helps optimize the overall patient experience.
Required: High school diploma or GED plus completion of an accredited medical assistant program OR military equivalent training.
Required: 0-2+ years CMA experience or specialty certification One year of clinical medical assistant experience within the last 5 years.
