The Nursing Support Assistant provides direct patient care, including monitoring vital signs, assisting with daily living activities, and maintaining a safe patient environment. They work under the direction of a Registered Nurse to support inpatient units and emergency departments through continuous patient observation and accurate documentation.
Candidates must hold a high school diploma or equivalent and be listed on the Illinois Health Care Worker Registry as a CNA or a qualified nursing student. An active American Heart Association BLS certification is required for this role.
Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Nursing Support Assistant (NSA) in the Supplemental Staff (Float) Department. Here, you will perform assigned supportive work in connection with the delivery of patient care, including functional tasks and skills. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
Supports the daily functions and operations of a patient care unit and healthcare team. In a sitter capacity, provides continuous observation and accurate documentation of assigned patient activities to promote safety and quality care. Works under the direction of the Registered Nurse and demonstrates flexibility by floating to all inpatient adult and pediatric units, including both Adult and Pediatric Emergency Departments.

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
