The Dental Subspecialist evaluates and treats patients with complex TMJ disorders, facial pain, and oral pathology. They perform medical management, oral biopsies, and coordinate care with other subspecialists.
Candidates must hold a DDS or DMD degree, a California dental license, and have at least two years of experience in TMJ and facial pain. Fellowship certification in TMJ/facial pain disorders is also required.
Evaluates and treats TMJ disorders, Facial/Atypical Facial Pain, and oral pathology. Accurately and efficiently obtain a full history and perform an oral and head/neck musculoskeletal exam.
Evaluates and diagnoses patients with complex Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) disorders and Facial/Aytpical Facial pain. Works in conjunction with physical therapy and behavioral medicine in treating TMJ/facial pain disorders. Performs medical management of facial pain and TMJ Botox injections-trigger point injections. Fabricates and adjusts various oral appliances. Coordinates care with other subspecialists for more complex facial pain patients e.g., pain Management, neurosurgery, etc. Evaluates and diagnoses patients with oral lesions. Performs oral biopsies and medical management. Fabricates and adjusts oral occlusal appliances as above.
Minimum of five (5) years experience as a DDS specialist in temporomandibular joints disorders/facial and atypical facial pain disorders. Additional Fellowship training and/or interest or experience in Oral Medicine. #LI-DB1
