The Program Assistant provides personal care and assistance with daily living activities to members while facilitating therapeutic recreational programs. They are responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment while observing members for changes in condition.
A high school diploma or equivalent is strongly preferred, along with at least one year of experience in a healthcare setting. Candidates must be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting 50 pounds and standing for extended periods.
High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred or a minimum of two (2) years relevant experience. At least one-year full-time equivalent experience in a health care setting preferred. Prior experience working seniors and/or adults with special needs preferred but not required Engaging interpersonal and communication skills. Able to multi-task and manage time effectively. Able to work a flexible schedule. Able to bend, pull, push, squat, turn, transfer, and lift 50 pounds; able to stand for an extended period while providing physical assistance to members Successful results of background check, and where applicable, additional state-specific regulatory requirements. Job Responsibilities Assist members with activities of daily living and personal care as needed (e.g. arrival and departure, eating, ambulation, transferring, therapies, rest room assistance, etc.). Assist in the planning and facilitation of creative and diverse therapeutic recreational programs and encourage member participation. Serve meals and snacks and clear tables; assist with feeding as needed. Observe members for change in condition or unusual occurrences. Escalate concerns as appropriate. Maintain program areas, supplies, and equipment ensuring all are clean, disinfected, stocked, replenished and in good working order. Ensure the safety of members by monitoring activities, keeping a sanitary, clutter-free environment, and participating in safety training; actively contribute to creating and maintaining a clean, orderly, bright and welcoming center. Communicate in a positive, courteous and professional manner with members and their families, co-workers, referral agencies, and the community at large. Participate in staff meetings and in-service educational programs as requested; actively collaborate with cross-functional team, providing feedback and recommendations for enhancing the member experience and achieving the center’s overall goals and objectives.
