The Orthopedic Technician I performs tasks related to the application, management, and removal of orthopedic casts, splints, and braces under the direction of medical staff. They also assist with patient triage, maintain orthopedic supplies, and provide patient education regarding casting and wound care.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a commitment to work toward national certification in orthopedic technology. The role requires completion of basic medical terminology and skeletal anatomy courses provided by the clinic.
Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills required. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development to appropriately care for patients served. Understanding the theory and application of skin skeletal traction.
