Qualifications: Minimum
Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Biology, or Chemistry 2 years experience in a Clinical lab setting. ASCP or equivalent certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Technologist (MT), or discipline specific certification (C, H).
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in automation systems. Minimum of 1 year experience in instrumentation currently in use in the UAMS Hematology lab
Job Requirements: The technologist maintains equipment and records and performs QC and QA related to test performances. The technologist performs a broad range of laboratory procedures in hematology. The technologist understands the roles and relationships among health care practitioners. The Medical Laboratory Scientist II performs at a level of quality and productivity commensurate for a technologist with this level of experience and may be assigned special projects and/or administrative related duties. The MLSII, having the additional designation of Lead Technologist, is assigned specific administrative related duties and is likely assigned additional special tasks and/or projects.
