The Medical Laboratory Scientist II performs a broad range of laboratory procedures in hematology and maintains equipment and records while performing quality control and assurance related to test performances. This role may also involve special projects and administrative duties as assigned.
Candidates must have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field and at least 2 years of experience in a clinical lab setting. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or equivalent is required, with preferred experience in automation systems and hematology instrumentation.

Qualifications: Minimum
Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Biology, or Chemistry 2 years experience in a Clinical lab setting. ASCP or equivalent certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Technologist (MT), or discipline specific certification (C, H).
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in automation systems. Minimum of 1 year experience in instrumentation currently in use in the UAMS Hematology lab
Job Requirements: The technologist maintains equipment and records and performs QC and QA related to test performances. The technologist performs a broad range of laboratory procedures in hematology. The technologist understands the roles and relationships among health care practitioners. The Medical Laboratory Scientist II performs at a level of quality and productivity commensurate for a technologist with this level of experience and may be assigned special projects and/or administrative related duties. The MLSII, having the additional designation of Lead Technologist, is assigned specific administrative related duties and is likely assigned additional special tasks and/or projects.
