The dental assistant facilitates dental services by providing chair-side assistance, preparing operatories, and maintaining instruments for various dental procedures. They also support clinic operations by managing patient flow, charting, and traveling to provide coverage at other clinic locations.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and either a dental assistant training certificate or six months of relevant experience. Additional requirements include obtaining BLS certification and specific clinical competencies within the first few months of employment.
Properly exposes, develops and mounts radiographs demonstrating radiological competency according to the I.H.S. Radiological Health and Safety Dental Program Manual. If the site is electronic able to take electronic radiographs and save them in the correct location.
