The Licensed Practical Nurse provides direct patient care in a behavioral health setting while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring patient conditions, and supporting a safe, therapeutic environment through crisis prevention and de-escalation.
Candidates must hold a current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license and BLS/First Aid certification. A graduate degree from an accredited vocational or technical nursing program is required, with previous behavioral health experience considered a plus.

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care in a behavioral health setting while working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary treatment team. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the LPN delivers age-appropriate nursing care that supports patients’ physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs. This role contributes to a therapeutic, safe, and respectful treatment environment and participates in required training to maintain clinical competency.
Education Graduate of an accredited vocational or technical nursing program (required) Associate or higher degree in nursing (preferred) Experience Previous nursing experience preferred; behavioral health or psychiatric experience is a plus Licensure & Certifications Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license (required) BLS/First Aid certification (required) Handle With Care (or equivalent), Verbal De-escalation (required or obtained upon hire)

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established standards, policies, procedures, and provider orders Complete nursing admission assessments and contribute to individualized treatment plans Reassess, monitor, and document changes in patient condition according to facility policy Administer medications safely and accurately, including timely and complete documentation Support unit milieu management by monitoring patient activity and encouraging participation in treatment and programming Assist in maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment and intervene appropriately during patient crises Participate in crisis prevention, verbal de-escalation, and least-restrictive interventions, including seclusion and restraint when required Collaborate with Registered Nurses, Lead Nurses, and leadership to support safe unit operations Perform additional duties as delegated by nursing leadership EEO Statement All UHS subsidiaries are committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal employment opportunities are available to all applicants and teammates.
