Responsibilities
The Medical Assistant I demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the ages of patients served by their department.
Additionally, the MAI demonstrates competency in applying these principles when providing individualized care to specific patients.
Assists the MD/NP/PA in performing procedures.
Operates, maintains and calibrates all equipment.
The following duties fall under the responsibility of the Medical Assistant but are not limited to: Setting up and assisting with office procedures Chaperone providers during patient examination Taking pre-op and post-op photos of patients Maintaining surgical instruments and transporting instruments to Central Sterile (CSS) Processing surgical specimens and transporting them to Pathology Maintaining and stocking exam rooms ordering clinical supplies Completing FMLA and Disability forms Cleaning and resetting exam rooms Travel to satellite locations as needed Take patient vital signs, record medical histories, and update electronic health records (EHR).
Administer injections, blood draws, and immunizations as directed by healthcare providers. (on-site training provided) Perform basic laboratory tests, including specimen collection and processing.
