Provide compassionate medical and surgical care to shelter animals, foster pets, and community clinic patients. Collaborate with internal teams to develop medical protocols and mentor clinic support staff.
Requires a DVM degree from an accredited program and an Illinois Veterinary License. Candidates must possess strong surgical proficiency and a commitment to humane, progressive animal care.
Collaboration & Internal Support Serve as the primary medical partner for our animal care, intake, foster, and adoption teams. Mentor veterinary technicians and clinic support staff. Collaborate with leadership on policies and protocols, workflow improvements, and future clinic planning.
Standards, Safety & Compliance Maintain high ethical and professional standards. Ensure accurate medical records and adherence to safety protocols. Contribute to a supportive work environment for staff, volunteers, and animals.
Organizational Support Provide input and feedback on program development and operational improvements. Participate in mission-focused meetings, trainings, and organization events. Embrace additional duties that support our organizational mission.
Preferred Shelter medicine or nonprofit experience. Comfort with small mammals or willingness to learn. Ability to consult on occasional wildlife cases (managed by wildlife staff).
