Provides immediate care to patients by performing physical exams, ordering diagnostic tests, and prescribing therapies under physician direction. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to maintain records and ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Requires a Master's degree in nursing or NCCPA certification with at least 2 years of Emergency Department or Immediate Care experience. Must hold valid Illinois state licenses, DEA certification, and current CPR certification.
Under the direction of collaborating physicians, provides care to patients. Obtains detailed history and performs physical examinations, orders imaging, lab tests and diagnostic procedures and interprets results. Instructs patients on the prescribed therapeutic regimen. Maintains records and writes progress notes on status, treatments, and procedures. Follows patients through their course of treatment in the immediate care. Collaborates with physicians and the health care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies as appropriate. Demonstrates evidence-based practice. Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of standards of practice in the specialty. Assesses the learning needs of patients and families across the continuum. Employs strategies, interventions and teaching to promote, maintain, and improve health. Works autonomously and in interdisciplinary teams. Positively contributes to safety outcomes and promotes high quality patient experiences. Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of service line goals. Supports the strategic plan of the organization. Adheres to all Endeavor Health policies and procedures.
Master’s degree in nursing (MSN or MS) or NCCPA certified PA. Minimum 2 years Emergency Department or IC experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant required to be considered for the position. APRNS: Current Illinois Registered Nurse license and current Illinois Advanced Practice Nurse license, Illinois controlled substance license and DEA certification. Physician Assistants: IL PA license, IL controlled substance license, and DEA certification. Current CPR Certification issued by either the American Heart Association or Red Cross (must have an in-person component).
