The Ophthalmic Technician assists doctors with patient eye examinations, including performing workups, vision tests, and scribing. They are also responsible for collecting medical data, maintaining instruments, and assisting with basic clinical procedures.
Candidates should have two years of work experience or be an Ophthalmic Assistant, with certification preferred. A valid driver's license is required as travel between clinic locations may be necessary.
Gathering medical records and patient information Taking ocular measurements, both anatomical and functional Administering or preparing medications Providing eye care and contact lens information to the patient Maintaining and cleaning ophthalmic instruments Assisting the doctors in basic procedures
