Position Summary
A Telemetry Tech who excels in this role
Monitors and records heart rhythms for patients receiving telemetry cardiac monitoring.
Recognizes all changes in the heart’s rate, rhythm, or pattern, records the changes, and if necessary, contacts a nurse or physician.
Ability to troubleshoot equipment and recognize false alarms.
Must have good technical skills in identifying heart rhythm patterns that may be complex.
Ability to work with all age groups, including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
Licenses: EMT, EMT-P, CNA, SRNA, or CMA preferred, or completion of first semester clinical rotation in an accredited Nursing Degree Program (ADN or BSN).
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Required; Completion of Cardiac Telemetry Certification within 1 year of hire; Evidence of successful completion of Telemetry/Dysrhythmia course
