Deliver effective restorative care to help residents maintain maximum functional potential and prevent decline. Oversee restorative programs and collaborate with nursing and rehabilitation departments to set goals and document progress.
Must have successfully completed a state-approved certified nursing assistant program and the CNA Plus Program. Requires knowledge of basic restorative nursing principles and completion of facility-provided continuing education.
Oversee, direct and participate in Restorative Programs initiated for individual residents. Communicate with the Nursing and Rehabilitation departments concerning goal setting and approaches to individual resident needs. Maintain accurate restorative nursing progress/documentation records on all residents participating in any Restorative Program. Maintain proficiency in using wheelchairs, walkers, canes, scales, and other equipment used in the restorative programs, and is able to instruct others in their use. Report lack of functioning equipment to the Rehab staff. Notify the Director of Rehabilitation when the resident is regressing/progressing or refusing to participate in the program. Provide education and assist direct care staff with the application of splints, braces, prosthetic appliances, and self-help devices to assure proper application and usage. Provide education and assist direct care staff with proper functional transfers, mobility, bed mobility, toileting, and grooming techniques individualized to the patient. Effectively communicate to the Director of Rehabilitation suggestions to help the resident reach their highest possible level of function. Assist with new hire orientation and ongoing education on the principles and practices of restorative nursing. Perform CNA duties as needed. QualificationsQualifications: Successful completion of a state approved certified nursing assistant program. Successful completion of a continuing education program (Relias) provided by the facility to maintain certification, as well as annual skills fair. Successful completion of the CNA Plus Program (CNA 2-CNA 6). Knowledge and skills in basic restorative nursing principles and practices. Satisfactory work performance.
