Provide safe basic care to orthopedic patients, including monitoring vital signs and assisting with activities of daily living. Responsible for specimen collection, patient observation, and maintaining accurate patient charts to ensure continuity of care.
Requires a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification and BLS certification from the American Heart Association. A high school diploma and six months of clinical healthcare experience are preferred.

OVERVIEW: Welcome to Orthopedics! 6 Ortho is a 43 bed unit that treats patients who need acute care due to a stable injury such as a fall with a broken bone, car accident with fracture, etc. 6 Ortho will also serve and care for patients who have an elective surgery such as a hip replacement, spinal fusion, shoulder repair, or knee replacement. The patients on Ortho may have limitations with mobility requiring extra assistance with the use of mobility aids such as walker, hoyer lift, and quick move. We have a great team that works together and it is a great place to get new experiences.
The Patient Care Technician/Certified Nursing Assistant (PCT/CNA) provides appropriate safe basic care to patients which includes taking vital signs, assisting patients with activities of daily living, specimen collection, and observation of patients for physical/emotional changes. Other duties include recording pertinent information in patient charts, communicating with other Patient Care Team members to ensure continuity of care, and may function in a role providing constant supervision to patients as needed. Duties may vary according to department expectations and needs.
