The Surgical Tech Student provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include preparing the surgical field, maintaining sterility, and managing surgical supplies and instruments.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a state-approved surgical technologist program and possess BLS certification. Training in surgical aseptic technique and OR practices is essential.
A surgical technologist student employed by Erlanger Medical Center responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The surgical technologist student functions as a member of the surgical team responsible for the obtaining of surgical supplies, preparation of the surgical field and maintenance of procedure sterility. The SORT works in collaboration with the medical, anesthesia, managerial, nursing and clinical staff in order to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in BEH Surgery.
Required: Current student of a state-approved surgical technologist program or other licensed or accredited program with equivalent surgical experience
Experience: Required: Training in surgical aseptic technique and OR practices essential
A surgical technologist student in the surgical educational program employed by Erlanger Medical Center responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and is responsible for the following:
Assumes on-call and late duty as assigned OR case preparation Instrument processing Surgical scrub Specimens
