Must be a graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program with an active state license. Requires strong communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, and physical capability to perform patient care tasks.
San Antonio - San Antonio, TX 78230Classification and Pay Hourly, Non-exempt Reports to Director of Rehab Summary/Objective In keeping with our organization’s goals, this position is responsible for performing patient care and patient related activities as directed by the Director of Rehab or Physical Therapist. Job Duties Implement patient treatment plans with guidance from the Physical Therapist Maintain productivity standards as determined by supervisor and clinical needs Demonstrate consistent knowledge and application of Medicare and other reimbursement regulations Treat patients according to treatment plan Record clinical documentation according to accepted regulatory and professional guidelines Record daily treatment charges per approved billing guidelines Instruct families and nursing staff regarding restorative/home programs as directed by staff physical therapist Communicate with supervisor and other health team members regarding patient progress, problems and plans Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, and other meetings as required or directed Participate in in-service and training programs as directed Participate in facility performance improvement programs Coordinate with members of other departments, attending physicians, committee members, and other staff within the Rehabilitation department Screen patients based upon identified need Assist with cleaning maintenance of treatment area and department Demonstrate a positive attitude and team building approach with all residents and team members Report all resident, staff, or other concerns to the appropriate department head Report all incidents, accidents, unsafe situations, and concerns immediately Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local rules and regulations relating to responsibilities Ensure that responsibilities are performed consistent with all applicable federal, state, and local rules and regulations as well as facility policies and procedures Supervisory Responsibility There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position. However, the position requires communication with nursing home staff to ensure that specific policies, procedures, and programs are implemented correctly. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This position is within a healthcare facility that operates every day. There will be scheduled times of work on the weekends and holidays. Significant events can occur at any given time that require working. Ongoing direction and support may be necessary if systems are not properly implemented, continuously improved, and monitored. Work Environment and Physical Demands This position generally will require physical activity. It may at times require walking to various locations within a facility. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and may require some use of machinery consistent with the job duties. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position at times requires the ability to walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, stoop, bend, kneel, twist, and lift as necessary.
