MUST HAVE RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION TO LOCATION This position requires that you are able to travel to at least 4 different locations in Chicago (2 locations), Des Plaines, and Addison, IL Day Shift Hours will be discussed at the time of interview.
Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to perform the nursing process in the care of patients receiving ambulatory surgery.
Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to respond immediately to changes in patient's condition.
Demonstrated ability to communicate information immediately and accurately.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of medical instruments, supplies and equipment.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of medication management.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of infection control, patient/visitor, and staff safety procedures.
Ability to perform duties using a high level of interpersonal skills and problem-solving techniques.
EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing - Must have a certification to provide.
Licensure/Certification
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Illinois with no record of disciplinary actions. BLS Required, ACLS required within 90 days EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in either PACU, ICU, or Emergency Department for at least 1 year.

Receives patients in the recovery room after procedure is performed.
Identifies patient's armband and greets patient.
Assesses patient's condition, vitals, pain, and level of awareness.
Plans and implements patient care.
Monitors and assesses patient's recovery.
Recognizes emergency and responds in a controlled, calm manner.

Communicates patient information to Anesthesiologist and Physician immediately and as needed.
Evaluates patient's progress.
Revise care plans when necessary.
Administers medications as ordered.
Monitors effect and immediately respond to any adverse reactions.
Checks operative site and dressing.
Immediately reports any abnormalities to the physician.
Assesses patient's progress and ability to move to Phase II of recovery.
Utilizes appropriate body mechanics (ergonomics) in moving patients and equipment.
Assures patients meet discharge criteria prior to discharge.
Educate patient and / or family in post - op care.
Provides written instructions, assures that instructions are understood, and provides information regarding how to contact the physician post - op Conducts post - anesthesia telephone call to patient 24 hours after discharge.
Immediately notifies anesthesiologist and / or physician or an complications.
Documents all required information, including signature and date in patient's medical record.
Enters all required patient information in the computer SIS system.
Any other tasks that need and are assigned by the direct supervisor or Physician.
Equipment/Utilities/Supplies/Medications:
Maintains adequate inventory of supplies and equipment in a cost-effective manner.
Checks Crash Cart monthly for emergency preparedness.
Check for expired medication / supplies Checks medication storage area for expired medications.
Notifies team lead of any utility or equipment malfunctions or breakage.
Checks medication refrigerator for accurate temperature.
Make recommendations to Team Leader regarding equipment needs and purchases.
