Bilingual Authorizations & Referrals - Urology

Description We are looking for an experienced medical office personnel to join our team! The Authorization and Referrals position will be part of a team that is responsible for obtaining and logging all necessary prior authorizations and/or referrals into our Electronic Health Records (EPIC) and medical billing system prior to scheduled appointments.

• Receive, track and obtain insurance authorization from in-network and out-of-network insurance carriers for New Patient and Follow-Up visits with our medical providers.
• Analyze daily schedule for patients needing prior authorization.
• Request and obtain all authorizations prior to patients scheduled appointment/treatment.
• Prepare and enter all authorizations into the e-MDs program.
• Communicate to direct supervisor any potential authorization issues.
• Positively communicate and interact with patients Team player with front office staff and able to help with other tasks as needed Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors, in person or over the phone Answers the phone while maintaining a polite, consistent phone manner using proper telephone etiquette Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information including personal and financial information Facilitates patient flow by notifying the provider of patients' arrival, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff Responds to inquiries by patients, prospective patients, and visitors in a courteous manner Keeps medical office supplies adequately stocked by anticipating inventory needs, and monitoring office equipment Protects patient confidentiality, making sure protected health information is secured by not leaving PHI in plain sight and logging off the computer before leaving it unattended.

Requirements

At least 2 years of medical office experience with referrals and authorization experience desired Excellent organizational skills Able to prioritize work flow Computer skills: Electronic Health Records (ECW) , Outlook email, Windows, Microsoft Word, On-line insurance carrier websites Must have knowledge of healthcare field and medical specialty, medical terminology, knowledge of general administrative and clerical procedures, working knowledge of healthcare insurance preferred and proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
