The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced clinical psychologist to join our collaborative weight loss obesity medicine company. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive psychological assessments, counseling, and support to patients seeking weight loss, including those considering bariatric surgery or utilizing medications. The candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to address the psychological factors associated with obesity and facilitate patients' emotional well-being throughout their weight loss journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide evidence-based counseling and behavioral interventions to address emotional, behavioral, and psychological aspects of weight management
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nutritionists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure an integrated and comprehensive approach to patient care
- Assist patients in developing effective coping strategies, stress management techniques, and behavior modification skills to facilitate long-term weight management
- Provide education and guidance to patients regarding psychological aspects of weight management, including motivation, self-monitoring, and relapse prevention
- Administer and interpret psychological assessments to inform treatment planning and evaluate treatment outcomes
- Document patient interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately and in a timely manner
- Adhere to all legal and ethical standards in patient care
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from an accredited institution
- Valid and active license as a psychologist, preferably with a Psypact compact license
- Specialization or experience in working with clients who have obesity
- Proficient in conducting comprehensive psychological assessments and interpreting assessment results
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic modalities and interventions for weight management, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing
- Experience in providing counseling and therapy to individuals or groups with obesity or weight management concerns
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build trust with patients
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated on emerging trends and research in clinical psychology and obesity management
