Assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with daily living activities, personal care, and housekeeping in a residential setting. Monitor client behavior, provide basic skill training, and transport residents to appointments.
Requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license with reliable transportation, and must be at least 18 years old. Candidates must be able to pass CPR/First Aid certification and a pre-employment drug screen.
Instructs and advises individuals/residents regarding daily living skills in one-on-one or group instructive situations. Observes, documents and monitors client behavior. Counsels’ individuals on items like behavioral problems, basic decision-making, and the resolution of minor issues. Provides personal client care to individuals in the home daily. Performs housekeeping duties such as washing clothes/dishes, dusting, running errands, wiping baseboards, sweeping/ mopping and more. Plans, buys food, and prepares meals (including special diets) for individuals. Provides transportation for individuals/residents to appointments/activities. Monitors self-administration of client medications. May be asked to move to another site at any time during employment. Qualifications Needed (education and/or experience): At least a high school diploma/GED equivalent. Must be 18 years of age. Must be able to pass basic classes like CPR/First Aid and more. Must possess a valid state driver’s license and own reliable transportation. Must have a knowledge of observation of patient behavior, ability to assist clients as needed, knowledge of individualized service plans, documentation and more. Must demonstrate good oral and written communications skills. Must demonstrate good conflict resolution skills. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 16 – 20 pounds whenever needed.
