The Genetic Counseling Assistant (GCA) provides specialized support to the Oncology Genetic Counseling clinic. This position supplies administrative and scheduling support and other basic duties essential to providing genetic counseling and risk assessment for hereditary cancer and tumor predisposition conditions to oncology patients and families. This position is supervised by the Manager of University Surgical Oncology at UT Medical Center Cancer Institute.
What We’re Looking For: 1-3 years related work experience required. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records, test requisitions, pathology reports. Strong organization and multi-tasking skills and ability to prioritize work effectively. Strong skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis, and maintain databases. Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff, and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem-solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Strong communication, organization, and time management skills A team player who puts patients first
