The Mohs Technician processes, embeds, cuts, and stains tissue specimens using frozen section techniques to support micrographic surgery. They are also responsible for laboratory organization, equipment maintenance, and adhering to CLIA compliance standards.
A high school diploma is required, while an associate degree in a related field or science coursework is preferred. Candidates should have strong attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Office, with previous clinic or lab experience preferred.
The Mohs Technician is responsible for responsible for processing, embedding, cutting, and staining tissue specimens using frozen section techniques to support Mohs micrographic surgery. This role is critical in ensuring rapid, high-quality slide preparation for accurate diagnosis and optimal patient outcomes. Mohs technician also supports various aspects of laboratory organization and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree in related field, or completion of science courses from an accredited institution, preferred. Previous training or experience in a clinic and lab environment preferred.
Must be detail oriented. Must have effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. High level of integrity, ethical judgment, and confidentiality when handling sensitive data. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required. Must be able to learn new software quickly. Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, leadership, and the public. Ability to use time productively and contribute to high levels of company operational efficiency and effectiveness. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Ability to communicate in an active multi-office environment. Ability to efficiently operate all job-related office equipment (telephone, computer, calculator, fax, copier).
