The phlebotomist is responsible for obtaining blood specimens from patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics using venipuncture and capillary puncture. They must also recognize stroke symptoms, initiate stroke alerts, and deliver urgent specimens to the laboratory.
Candidates must have a high school diploma and technical school training, with an associate degree preferred. A minimum of 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience is required, and certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
High school diploma and Technical School; Associate of Applied Science or AS degree preferred.
