Mental Health Technician, New Choice Addiction Recovery

Responsibilities

• The New Choice Center for Addiction Recovery is a 28-day, intensive, individualized hospital program for addiction treatment and detoxification.
• Medical detoxification is supervised by our professional staff and to help manage the acute physical symptoms of substance withdrawal in a secure environment.
• Participants will also take part in individual sessions and family sessions with case management, as well as direct consultations with our medical team of addiction specialists.

• JOB SUMMARY: Serves as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
• Assists in managing unit under the leadership of the Program Coordinator and Director of Social Services.
• Implements programming for individuals and groups of patients.
• Shares responsibility for consistently seeking to understand the meaning of verbal and non- verbal communications among staff and patients.
• Acts as role model (including therapeutic use of authority, confrontation, limit setting and provision of emotional support).
• Also responsible for all appropriate documentation for New Choice program.
• ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients and provides assigned patient care with the general policies, philosophy and objectives of the New Choice Department and the hospital.
• Implements interventions appropriate to the developmental needs of the patient in accordance with the treatment plan demonstrating sound clinical and professional judgment and competency.
• Monitors unit milieu and maintains a safe, therapeutic environment for patients, family members and staff.
• Accurately and thoroughly documents interventions using goals developed in the plan of care, master treatment plan and treatment plan revisions.
• Demonstrates knowledge of various substance abuse and mental health commitments and their effect on patient treatment.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the 12-Step Program of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.
• Conducts and documents observations on all patients every 30 minutes (required by all shifts).
• Provides counseling with other patients/residents in the facility as needed per their treatment plan.
