The Certified Pharmacy Technician prepares medications, including IV admixtures and chemotherapy, under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist. They are also responsible for maintaining inventory levels in automated dispensing units and handling computer charge entries.
Candidates must hold a Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT), a high school diploma, and an active State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician License. Mathematical proficiency and data entry experience are required, while an associate's degree and hospital experience are preferred.
The Certified Pharmacy Technician prepares medication needed for any patient type under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist. Assists the pharmacist with all aspects of the pharmacy duties. Is responsible for inpatient and outpatient computer charge entries. Maintains appropriate inventory levels and medications needed in automated dispensing units. Assists the pharmacy buyer in inventory control and is able to order through wholesaler in his/her absence. Works in compliance with Federal and State regulations and HFAP accreditation standards and financial management.
