The role involves carrying out therapeutic interventions and leading treatment groups for psychiatric patients within a geriatric unit. The counselor monitors patient progress, manages crisis situations, and collaborates with a nursing team to ensure treatment goals are met.
A Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related field is required, though other degrees with four years of related experience may be considered. Candidates must hold a BLS certification and obtain CPI training within one year of employment.

Carries out therapeutic interventions with psychiatric patients in the context of a group or unit milieu; co-leads treatment groups, observes the condition of the patient and communicates with the team on an ongoing basis concerning the patient's progress toward prescribed treatment goals and reports any unusual situation or incidents observed. Works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
EDUCATION Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or related field required. Will consider other degrees with a minimum of four years of directly related experience. EXPERIENCE Not applicable LICENSURE BLS required SPECIAL SKILLS CPI training within 1 yr of employment
